Miss Jamie Ballet is committed to providing a safe, supportive and professional environment for all children, families and staff. The following policies and checks outline how we meet our safeguarding, legal and professional responsibilities.

 

 

1. Safeguarding Policy

 

The safety and wellbeing of children is our highest priority.

 

Miss Jamie Ballet follows safeguarding best practice in line with guidance from:

    •    The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

    •    NSPCC safeguarding principles

    •    Local authority safeguarding expectations

 

Safeguarding commitments:

    •    All children are treated with respect, dignity and care at all times

    •    Classes are age-appropriate and delivered in a positive, inclusive manner

    •    Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times

    •    Children are never left unsupervised during class time

    •    Any safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and acted upon immediately

 

Reporting concerns:

 

If a safeguarding concern arises, it will be reported promptly and appropriately in line with statutory safeguarding procedures. Where required, concerns will be shared with local safeguarding authorities.

 

Parents are encouraged to raise any concerns directly and confidentially.

 

 

2. DBS Check

 

Miss Jamie Ballet ensures that all relevant adults working directly with children:

    •    Hold an enhanced DBS check

    •    Have their DBS status kept up to date

 

DBS checks are carried out in accordance with current safeguarding legislation in England and Wales.

 

 

3. Insurance

 

Miss Jamie Ballet holds appropriate insurance cover, including:

    •    Public liability insurance

    •    Professional indemnity insurance

 

This insurance covers all classes, private tuition and ballet parties delivered by Miss Jamie Ballet.

 

 

4. Royal Academy of Dance Registration

 

Miss Jamie Ballet is led by Jamie, a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Registered Teacher.

 

This means:

    •    Teaching meets nationally recognised professional standards

    •    Syllabi are structured, progressive and age-appropriate

    •    Ongoing professional development is maintained

    •    Ethical teaching practices are followed at all times

 

 

5. Health and Safety

 

Miss Jamie Ballet is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.

 

Venue safety:

    •    Classes take place in suitable, well-maintained venues

    •    Floors are appropriate for dance activity

    •    Clear access and exit routes are maintained

    •    Equipment is checked regularly

 

Participant wellbeing:

    •    Warm-ups and cool-downs are included

    •    Children are encouraged to work within their own physical ability

    •    Any injuries or medical conditions should be disclosed in advance

 

Parents must inform Miss Jamie Ballet of any medical needs, allergies or additional requirements before their child attends classes.

 

 

6. Supervision, Arrival and Collection

    •    Children must be dropped off and collected promptly

    •    Miss Jamie Ballet is responsible for children only during scheduled class times

    •    Younger children must be handed directly to a responsible adult at collection

    •    Late collection may result in additional charges or refusal of future bookings

 

 

7. Photography and Video Policy

 

Photography and video recording may occasionally be used for:

    •    Training purposes

    •    Promotional materials (website or social media)

 

Images will only be used with appropriate parental consent.

Parents may not photograph or film classes without prior permission, in order to protect the privacy of all children.

 

 

8. Behaviour and Conduct

 

Miss Jamie Ballet promotes a positive and respectful learning environment.

 

Children are expected to:

    •    Follow instructions

    •    Treat others with kindness and respect

    •    Participate safely

 

Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in:

    •    Temporary removal from class

    •    Ongoing discussion with parents

    •    Withdrawal from classes if behaviour cannot be safely managed

 

 

9. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

 

Miss Jamie Ballet is committed to equality and inclusion.

 

We:

    •    Welcome children of all backgrounds and abilities

    •    Do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment

    •    Make reasonable adjustments where possible to support individual needs

 

 

10. Booking, Fees and Cancellations

 

Classes:

    •    Fees are payable in advance

    •    Missed classes are non-refundable unless stated otherwise

    •    Refunds are not issued for absences due to illness, holidays or personal circumstances

 

Private lessons and parties:

    •    Cancellations must be made with reasonable notice

    •    Late cancellations may be charged in full

 

Full booking terms will be provided at the point of booking.

 

 

11. Data Protection and Privacy (GDPR)

 

Miss Jamie Ballet complies with UK GDPR and data protection legislation.

 

We:

    •    Collect only necessary personal information

    •    Store data securely

    •    Do not share personal data with third parties without consent unless legally required

 

Parents may request access to or deletion of personal data in line with GDPR rights.
